From this point you will crochet without joining.

Round 4: 14 single crochet,

Round 5: 14 single crochet, 2 single crochet in chain 2 space,
14 single crochet. ( 30 stitches) You have formed the hole for
your wrist loop.

all 3 ends through themselves to secure the knot.
Now cut them to the same length and you are done.

Crochet Baby Cherry Hat

This hat is much prettier than this scan makes it look!

I am the only one that has made this hat so please let me know if you have any questions.

I used;
Caron simply Soft Brites
Red & Green
Size G hook

Gauge: 4 & 1/2 stitches per inch.

---------------------------------------------------------
Do Not join rounds. Do not turn, You will just hide both yarn
ends inside the cherry. No stuffing needed.

Cherries: With Red yarn, chain 2.

Round 1: 4 single crochet in second chain from hook.

Round 2: 2 single crochet in each stitch around. (8 single crochet)

Round 3: Single crochet 1 round even.
( 8 single crochet)

Round 4 Single crochet 2 stitches together around.
( 4 single crochet)

Cut leaving the yarn end long enough to
gather these 4 stitches together by weaving the
yarn end in and out through one loop of each stitch.
Pull tight and hide end inside cherry.

have cherries. You can use more, less, or the
same as I did.

Cut yarn leaving a long enough end to sew leaf to top of hat.

Pull up the bead if you are using one, slip stitch around the bead,

*chain 5, work 5 double triple crochet in the 1st chainof the chain 5, slip stitch in the same chain as thebeginning of the chain 5, repeat from * end off leaving the thread long enough to feed through the angels head and be able to create the hanging loop.

If you want to have a bead in the middle between thewings thread it on now, and secure it there. After that is done pull the end of the thread up through the angels head.Create the loop, secure. I just wound the thread around another stitch. It didn't need a knot. Feed this end back through the head of the angel, cut it off so it does not show.

Size F hook
small amount of worsted weight yarn for bodyand either a baby weight yarn for eyes or split and usehalf of 4 ply and use that for eyes.

The body is worked in the round without joining. I hide the beginning end of the yarn as I crochet .

chain 2

Row 1; 6 single crochet in second chain from hook.

Row 2;*2 single crochet in next stitch, 1 single crochet in next stitch,repeat from * around.(9 single crochet)

Row 3 & 4; single crochet around. At this time make eyes between round 3 & 4.

Rows 5 & 6; single crochet.

For squid, cut and make fringe around the bottom, including the ending yarn of the body.

For octopus, *slip stitch in next single crochet, chain 6, slip stitch in second chain from hook and next 4 chains. Repeat around for 8 "arms".

There will be 1 extra stitch at the end, slip stitch into it and end off.

Hide yarn ends where needed.

Materials;
# 10 cotton thread sizes g & f crochet hooks1 drawstring stopper (optional)

Gauge;
Not critical but mine is,4 double crochet & 4 chain 2 spaces= 2 inchesMy bag is about 10 inches across at it's widest and8 inches long.

Notes;
This bag will be worked in the round without joininguntil the last round.You may use a stitch marker at the beginning of therounds if you want, but I just marked the beginning side of the bag.

With g hook:
chain 2

Round 1; 6 single crochet in the second chain.

Round 2-?; 2 double crochet in each stitch around until you have
a total of 40 double crochet.

Next Round; chain 2, 1 double crochet in next stitch around.

When you reach the first chain 2, proceed as follows
* 1 double crochet in chain 2, chain 2, repeat from * until
your bag is as long as you want (or 8 inches like mine),
ending on the beginning side of the bag.

Change to f hook;

Next Round; 2 single crochet in each chain 2 space around.
Join with slip stitch in first single crochet.
Last round; chain 1, slip stitch in next single crochet around.
Join with slip stitch in first slip stitch of this round.
Cut thread and hide ends.

With f hook for tie;
Leaving the end long enough to be included in the tassel,
make a chain about 24 inches long, slip stitch in each chain.

Cut yarn leaving the end long enough to be used in the tassel.
If you are using a drawstring stopper, feed the string through
it then make tassel type fringe on both ends of the string.

Gauge: I don't know! I can tell you that I use a J for ladies size 7-8 shoe and K or N for men, but it also depends on the yarn. Even worsted weights can work up to different gauges, as I am sure you know!

Chain 59 (I leave a long enough tail to sew the back seam up.)

I made mine as an ornament. The shaping of the bag is reminicent of some ornaments I used to have.

Materiels:
worsted weight yarn in two colors..I used red for the main part of my stocking and teri baby yarn doubled for the trim. It doesn't take much of either.

Gauge..Not important. My stocking measures;just over 2" acrosstrim to heel 4"middle of heel to toe 3"measuring diagonaly from the hanging loop to the end of the toe 5"

Abbreviations;sc= single crochet
ch= chain
rnd= round
st= stitch
tog= together

Working in rounds without joining. Mark the beginning of your rounds
with a piece of yarn,

Rnd 1; ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, . (6 sc)

Rnd 2; 2 sc in each st around. (12 sc)

Rnd 3; 1 sc in 1 st st, 2 sc in next st around. (18 sc)

Rnd 4 - 7; sc in each st around. (18 sc)

This loop will hang to the outsideof the stocking until you are done with the trim.Join trim yarn with a sl st in the next st after the hanging loop, sc in same st,sc in each st around, end with a sc in the same st as the hanging loop beginning sl st. (18 sc)

Round 9; sc around, end. (18 sc) Hide ends securely and you are done!

Repeat around faten off leaving the end of your yarn long enough to include it as part of the fringe.

Make 1 fringle in each stitch of last round.

You will be working in one continuous round with no join.

You will need....................
G crochet hook
a small amount of worsted yarn

Row 1; chain 2, 6 single crochet in 2nd chain.

Row 2- ? ; 2 single crochet in each stitch until you have a total of 24 single crochet.

crochet 10 rounds even

Sew eyes between rounds 6 & 7 of the ten even rounds,with 2-3 stitches between them.

Single crochet 2 together around until there are 12 stitchesremaining.
End by slip stitching into the front loop of the next stitch.When you cut the yarn leave it long enough to be part ofthe "hair. Tie "hair to the front loops of the last round. When you little friend is full enough if you want a toy or palto give, thread a good length of yarn through the back loopsof the last round. Pull tight. There is a small gap remaining,just pull it shut with this same yarn and tie in a knot. Trim your new friends "hair".

Materials:
small amount of bedspread weight thread (you could also use baby yarn)
size E crochet hook
a button, charm, or bead
This bookmark will loop around the book, not just lay between the pages.
Crochet a chain to a length of your choosing leaving a good long tail.
This is the first half of the bookmark and you want it long enough to go at least half way around a good size book.
My chain is about 11 inches
Thread your decoration of choice over the end of the chain just made.
For me how many chains I want the loop my button hangs from to be depends on the size
of the button. Some where between 5-8 chains. Slip stitch into a chain or two forming the chain
loop for the button to hang from..See the picture.
Continue crocheting the chain until it is just one a two chains longer than the first half.
Pull the beginning tail through the last chain and pull tight. Cut thread leaving a good legth of yarn.

of how to make fringe. This is how I make the "tassel like" fringe on my bookmark. I measured
out about 4 feet of thread and folded it in half 3 times. I then looped it over the end of my bookmark
as shown int the pictures, pulling the end threads through with the other loops. I then cut
the loops fairly even.

My Pencil Cozies

My Pencil Cozies

G Hook
Worsted Weight Yarn
Chain 5, slip stitch together to form a circle.
Do not join, work 5 single crochet around until the pencil
cozy is as long as you want it. I made them 2 & 1/2 to 3 inches.
Slip stitch to end. Feed the yarn on the ending up to the top.
(both ends of yarn on same end) I slipped the loose end into
itself so it will stay put. Both ends are open.
These ends become part of the fringe.
Fill in with more yarn. You can slide the cozy to the writing
end to use as a cushion if you want.
I chose to unwind the yarn on these.
I used buttons (the stars and car)
and strung alphabet beads to make my grandkids names.
The ways you can decorate these cozies are almost endless.

Materiels
Worsted weight yarn. (I used from a 5 ounce skien and had quitte a bit left.)
Small amount of baby yarn.
Pony Beads (optional) I used 4
1 Button (optional)
2; 1&1/8 inch rings (mine were plastic, traditional you would use metal)
Crochet Hooks; G & F
Abreviations;
sc= single crochet
st= stitch or stitches
sl st= slip stitch
rnd= round
tog=togehter
Need to know.
gauge: 5 sc & 5 & 1/2 rows = 1 inch
appproximate measurements of the bag are:
end to end about 13 & 3/4"
3" wide
slit in tube is about 3 & 1/2"
However you could make this any size you want and gauge is not that important.
The rings traditionaly would be metal.I just used what I had on hand.
You will not join rounds. I did not keep track of the begining exactly.
I just hung a loop of yarn on the beginning side of the bag and eye balled it.

Single crochet over your rings (if you use plain plastic); with an f hook and baby yarn,
until they are covered. Hide ends. Put the rings on your worsted weight
yarn. You will just let them hang on your yarn until needed.
With G hook from now on;
Rnd 1; Chain 2, 6 sc in 2nd chain. (6)st.
Rnd 2; 2 sc in each stitch. (12st.)
Rnd 3; 1 sc in 1st st, 2 sc in next st, around. (18)st.
Rnd 4; sc even (18)st.

Rnd 45; Now join your work again by instead of turning by doing the following;

Pull your rings up over the tube just formed. This is what holds the slit just made closed.
Rnd 47; sc in next 2 st, 2 sc in next st, around. (20)st.
Rnd 48; sc even.
Rnd 49; sc in 1 st, 2 sc in next st, around. (30)st.
Rnd 50 - 54; sc even. (30) st.
I made my flap on the oppisite side of the slit in the tube that joins the
2 ends of the bag. You can make yours on either side. Or don't make it at all.
If you choose not to make the opening and flap just sc even until the end of the bag.
Rnd 55; Fold your bag flat, decide which side you want your flap on, then
when you work this rnd, work 2 st from the side, then do the following,
chain 11, skip 11 st, work to end of rnd. (29 sc & 11 chains)
Rnd 56; sc in each sc and chain around. ( 30) st.
Rnd 57 - 74; sc even. (30) st.
You will close your bag by folding it flat to make the slit in the middle of the side it is on,
then sc it tog. I did this then unraveled the round so I could cut it an put the beads on
my yarn to finish. When you pull up your beads will depend on how many (if any) you use.
Just work them on evenly spaced. In my case I didn't have very many of the ones I wanted
use and this is how I did it.
Closing Row; sc, pull up a bead, sc 2 times, to end. I used 4 beads and ended with 1 sc.
This is just my method.
Flap on squared end of bag.
Row 1; Join yarn in the end of the opening ( same st as last worked sc before the ch made in
rnd 55; sc in this st and each st across, sc in same st as next sc in rnd 55. (13) st.
You have 2 more st than the unworked edge of rnd 55.
Row 2; sc across (13)st.
Row 3; sc 2 tog, sc to last 2 st, sc 2 tog (11)st.
Row 4; sc even (11) st.
Row 5; sc 2 tog, sc to last 2 st, sc 2 tog (9)st.
Row 6; sc even (9) st.
Row 7; sc 2 tog, sc to last 2 st, sc 2 tog (7)st.
Row 8; sc even (7)st.
Row 9; sc 2 tog, sc to last 2 st, sc 2 tog (5)st.
Row 10; sc even (5)st.
Row 11; sc 2 tog, sc to last 2 st, sc 2 tog (3)st.
End and hide ends.
Join yarn with sl st in top right corner of flap.
Sc in next st, and in the end of each row to the 3 st row,

Hide all ends not already done and sew on a button.

Rnd 9: sc in first ch, sc dec next 2 sts tog, continue around, (18 st) At this point I add eyes, nose and mouth if I’m going to go with simple Straight stitches and contrasting worsted yarn.
Rnd 10: sc dec 2 st tog around (12 st)
Rnd 11-12: sc in each st (12 st)
Rnd 13: 2 sc inc in each st (24 st)
Rnd 14-19: sc in each st I now tie arms on at the sides of rnd 13 and 14
Rnd 20: sc in first st, dec in next 2 st (sc 2 tog), around (15 st)
Rnd 21: even (15 st)
Tie legs at sides between rnds 20 and 21 Stuff, then crochet 2 tog (dec) rnd until 6 sts remain. End off.
Thread yarn Through st and pull tight. I have made these to put in a cradle purse using “doll colors” and used wild colors For little boys. The kids love them. If you make them for babies I recommend cotton yarn because acrylic sometimes causes a rash when baby chews on it.

Work up the other side in the same manner until you reach the next point. Single crochet in the 3rd chain of this rows beginning chain 4. Chain 8, slip stitch in the 8th chain from hook. Slip stitch into same stitch as your last single croochet...
Turn...
You are back to your working edge. 1 single crochet in each chain 1 space across.
This it to prevent too much satretching of the outside edge.

Round 2 of edge; This round slip stitch in each single crochet. When you get to each hanging loop make 7 single crochet over the chain 7 loop and continue on.....slip stittch in your first slip stitch and you are done except for hiding ends.

I created this cute little bag for my grandchildren to carry quarters in.
Materials:
Small amount of worsted weight yarn.
Size G crochet hook.
Black yarn to make a smiley face or a cute button, charm, or whatever you like to decorate the bag.
Finished size is about 2 & 3/4 inches wide by 2 & 3/4 inches tall.
Working in rounds without joining:
Chain 2
Round 1: 6 Single crochet in the second chain from hook. (6)
Round 2: 2 Single crochet in each stitch. (12)
Round 3: *1 Single crochet in 1 1st stitch, 2 single crochet in 2nd stitch, repeat from * around. (18)
Round 4: *1 Single crochet in 1st 2 stitches, 2 single crochet in next stitch, repeat from * around. ( 24 )
Rounds 5 - 12: Single crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch in next stitch to join, chain 1.
Round 13 : Single crochet in same stitch as chain 1, * chain 2, single crochet in next stitch, repeat from * ending chain 2, join with slip stitch in first single crochet.
Pull ties(make 2):
Chain 30, end.
Thread the first tie through all the way around, and join it to itself.
Thread second tie through starting on the opposite side of the bag that you began to thread the first tie through. Join this to to itself also. When the ties pulled on each side, at the same time the bag closes.
