Hook J or K or N
Gauge: I don't know! I can tell you that I use a J for ladies size 7-8 shoe and K or N for men, but it also depends on the yarn. Even worsted weights can work up to different gauges, as I am sure you know!
2 strands of worsted weight yarn ( 2 skeins of at least 4 ounces)
Chain 59 (I leave a long enough tail to sew the back seam up.)
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each chain across (58 st.) ch 1 turn.
Row 2: Working in back loops sc in first 25 sc, sc in both loops for 8 sc, sc in last 25 sc, ch 1 turn. (sc crochet in back loops through out except for middle 8 st.)
Rows 3-14: repeat row 2, fasten off.
Row 15: skip 17 sc, join yarn and sc in back loop of same sc as joining and next 7 sc, sc in both loops of next 8 sc, sc in back loop of next 8 sc, ch 1 turn. (24 st)Row 16: in back loops, sc first 2 sc together (decrease made) sc in back loops of next 6 sc, sc in both loops of next 8 sc, in back loops sc next 6 sc, sc last 2 sc together. (22 st)
Row 17: sc in back loops of first 7 sc, sc in both loops next eight sc, sc inback loops of next 7 sc, ch 1 turn. (22 st)
Row 18: in back loops sc first 2 sc together,sc in back loops of next 5 sc, sc in both loops next 8 sc, in back loops sc in next 5 sc, sc last 2 sc together. (20 st)
Rows 19-24: Work sc in back loops first 6 sc, sc in both loops 8 sc, sc in last 6 sc. (20 st)
Row 25: Sc in back loops working 2 sc together across all sc. (10 st)You can cut the yarn here and drawing the yarn through all toesstitches, pull tight and sew up the front of the boot or join boot together with a sc up the front. I prefer the latter but it doesn't really matter which method you use. You also have a seam to sew up the back.
