Little Gift Bag (CORRECTIONS MADE 10/13/2010

The bag is really red and the ribbon gold!

Abbreviations
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
The bag will be worked continuously with no join until
end of round 19.
Mark the beginning of the round, I use a piece of yarn.
Chain 2.
Round 1: 6 sc in 2nd chain. (6 sc)
Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch around. (12 sc)
Round 3: *1 sc in next stitch, 2 sc in next stitch, repeat from * around. (18 sc)
Round 4: *1 sc in next 2 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch, repeat from * around. (24 sc
)
Round 5: *1 sc in next 3 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch, repeat from * around. (30 sc)
Round 6: *1 sc in next 4 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch, repeat from * around. (36 sc)
Round 7: *1 sc in next 5 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch, repeat from * around. (42 sc)
Round 8: sc in each stitch around. (42 sc)
Rounds 9 - 18: hdc in each stitch around. (42 hdc)
Round 19: hdc in each stitch around to last stitch, sc in last stitch, slip stitch
in first stitch of round 18.
Round 20: Chain 4, skip 1 stitch, hdc in next stitch, *chain 2, skip 1 stitch,
hdc in next stitch, repeat from * until 1 stitch remains,
end, chain 2, slip stitch in second chain of beginning chain 4.

Round 21: Slip stitch into first chain 2 space, chain 2, 2 hdc in same space, * 3 hdc in next space,
repeat from * aound to beginning chain 2, end with slip stitch in
2nd chain of beginning chain 2.
Round 22: *Chain 2, skip 1 stitch, slip stitch into next stitch,
repeat from * around. Join with slip stitch in beginning slip stitch, end.
Sometimes I hide the end, sometimes I use it to hang a decoration from,
then deal with the end.
The bag pictured is tied with ribbon, however, you may use drawstrings as instructed
below, one string with a stopper, or one string and tie it as a ribbon.
Drawstrings: make (2) ch 60 drawstrings, leaving a 3-4 inch tail at both ends.
Drawstrings will come out at the same place they start from, one on each side of the bag.
Weave first drawstring through chain 2 spaces of rnd 13.
Tie ends at the tails.
Weave second drawstring through same ch 1 spaces with the tails at the opposite side.
Holding the 2 ends of yarn together loop them through themselves to secure, or tie in a knot.
